He is very professional, amazing creative and extremely funny: ALEKSEI RIABOSHAPKA! But the most important: he will be with us at Mundo Oriental, for the Gala Show and for two workshops!

Aleksei is not only well-known for his energetic stage performances and his famous dance parodies, he is as well a funny and effective teacher. In his two Workshops featuring the Jazz-Tabla and the famous Shaaby-Shababy-Sharaya he will give us his knowledge in his very unique way! Just see the videos!

Sophie Armoza Israel

First time in Germany!

Sophie Armoza is a professional Oriental dance performer, choreographer and instructor from Israel. Fluent in both the Egyptian raqs sharqui and the various folkloric styles, Sophie has been a featured soloist in many large-scale stage productions including the San Francisco Ethnic Dance festival, Eilat Festival and most recently the Orient Express show, performing for hundreds of admiring spectators.

Recognized for her superb musicality and passionate theatrical style Sophie has been wowing audiences with her Turkish Roman (Gypsy) interpretation and her finger cymbals solos. Sophie’s outstanding technique, proficiency in various accessories such as veil, double veil and cane and creative approach to sagat ( finger cymbals ) made her a sought-after instructor. She has been conducting workshops and sagat and rhythms courses for professional dancers and teaching at various teacher training courses all over Israel and abroad.

Fadima Jones Turkey/Germany

Born in Turkey Fadima started her dance career with turkish folkloristic dance, moved over to Jazzdance, Breakdance, Hip-Hop and Bollywood later. Already in early years she wrote her choreografies on her own, when she was 16 she started to dance as background dancer for various national and international artists.

.

In the 1980s she started singing and performed at radio shows and at Hip-Hop events. Later she founded a Hip-Hop band named K-os. Some years later Fadima learned to dance House and Jamaican Dancehall and she started to write her own songs – first for herself and the band – later as well for other artists. Fadima is well-known in Turkey as well and was engaged for the production of videoclips of Tugce San and Zeynep.

After some years teaching Hip-Hop she discovered the Oriental dance for herself and started to learn and teach it. Based on her profund artistical experience she started to learn from well known international stars of bellydance, such as Jillina (USA), Aziza (USA/Canada), Djamila (Frankfurt), Reyhan (Frankfurt), Cairusan (Frankfurt), Dina (Egypt), Raqia Hassan (Egypt) and Lubna Emam (Egypt).

At Mundo Oriental 2011 she will – of course - perform at the Gala Show and will be the co-moderator of Amira Shazadi.

Nashyra  Ecuador/Germany

After Nashyra tried many dance styles such as samba, salsa or jazz dance in Ecuador in 2002 she discovered the dance style that combines best with her and her style of living: the Oriental dance!

The Oriental dance reflects her temperament and joy when she is dancing. To express herself in the best way Nashyra uses and combines the different styles and techniques offered in the Oriental dance world.

Coming from South-America she is well-known for her fusions full of temperament and show choreographies full of ‘special effects’. She performed at various dance shows, company events and workshops in Poland, Ecuador and many cities in Germany. At Mundo Oriental 2011 she will perform at the Gala Show

Anusch Alawerdian  Armenia/Netherlands

.

Anusch Alawerdian is an international oriental dance performer, instructor & choreographer based in The Netherlands. She was born into a creative and artistic Armenian family. At the age of seventeen Anusch was introduced to the world of Oriental Dance and just like a middle-eastern princess embarked on a journey through 1001 countries to specialize in this intricate dance.

.

For the last 10 years, Anusch has been giving spectacular performances throughout the Middle East, North Africa, Europe and USA. In the last 2 years the United Arab Emirates have been her home base where she performs regularly. The venues where she performed include some of the best 5 star hotels in the region, such as the Al Diar Siji hotel, the Fairmont Hotel, Intercontinental, Hilton, Studio Masr Abu Dhabi, Wafi Dubai (Baladna), Al Awtar (RAK)  and many others.

With her extensive repertoire, Anusch frequently gives world wide workshops and performs in theatres, TV shows, parties, major festivals and other prestigious events.

Amira Shazadi  - Lebanon/Brazil/Germany  (Event Organizer)

.

Amira Shazadi’s family has its roots in Lebanon, but she grew up in Brazil where she discovered the Oriental Dance for herself and went through a professional education.

.

Since 2001 she lives in Germany and – after the birth of her son in 2003 - since 2007 she started to work again as Oriental dancer, choreographer and teacher. Her own studio for Oriental dance she opened in 2009 in Kempen, near to Krefeld and Dusseldorf. Though Kempen is a small city she could bring the Oriental World to Kempen which gives this local dance studio an international flair with many international artists coming to Kempen to perform on stage and offer workshops.

.

Besides international stage performances in Brazil, Dubai, India and Egypt she was member of the Jury of the famous Mercado Persa 2010 in São Paulo, Brazil, the largest Oriental dance festival of South America.

At Mundo Oriental 2011 she is – again, like in the previous years – dancer, organizer and moderator in one person. She is the founder of the showgroup Desert Breeze who will perform as well at Mundo Oriental 2011!

Khalida Belgium/Germany

Khalida is a multi-award winning professional belly dancer and instructor, born in Belgium, living in Germany. Known for her musicality, stage presence and technique, Khalida is quickly becoming a sought-after performer and teacher, both locally and internationally.

She has dedicated years of study to her art, and continues taking classes and workshops with top teachers from Europe, the US and Egypt whenever she can. Her main influences at the moment are Aziza of Canada and Orit Maftsir of Israel.

In 2007 she was awarded first place at a 'Bellydancer of the World' contest and in 2009 she won first runner-up at the International BD Congress Isis Awards. She has been featured on several European professional performance DVDs.

Her specialties include classical oriental dance and modern raks sharki as well as drum solos, dancing with zills, silk veil, cane and wings of isis.

In 2009 she performed as part of the folkloric ensembles of Magdy El Leisy (Cairo/ Germany) and Bondok (Cairo/ Germany) and she co-organized the first RAKS.be bellydance summerschool event in Leuven, BE together with Razia (USA) and Artemisia (BE). She is also co-director and founding member of international collective EURO DIVAS and in 2010 she was co-director, founding member and choreographer for RAKS PRO - the first professional belgian oriental dance troupe.

  Desert Breeze Germany

Desert Breeze was founded in 2010 and is the showgroup of Amira Shazadi. Like in 2010 Desert Breeze will perform during the Gala Show – of course. And they are training hard already.

 Mokhles Arafi Egypt/Germany

.

Mohkles Arafi is a well-known Oriental drummer and singer from Egypt – with more than 30 years of drumming experience. At the age of 18 he founded his own Oriental band and was drumming over many years for the most famous bellydancers of the Oriental world, such as Sahar Hamdi.

Since 1991 he lives in Germany, working as singer, drummer and drum teacher. He is frequently booked for dance festivals regularly and so we are proud to have him as well at Mundo oriental 2011on stage supporting our dancers.

Mokhles Arafi’s BAZAR

And there is just another thing which Mokhles brings to Mundo Oriental 2011:  his well-known bazar! In the 'Kulturhalle' his bazar will be available all day on Saturday, August 24. And there Mokhles has always something new to be discovered: new dance clothes, professional costumes and – of course – a lot of accessories!

Raks Pro Belgium (Special Guest)

RAKS PRO is the first Belgian Professional Oriental Dance Ensemble, bringing together a group of dedicated, enthusiastic and award-winning professional performers active for performances and workshops at bellydance festivals and corporate events in Belgium & internationally.

The repertoire ranges from interpretations of the Egyptian classics and prop work, to modern pop, American cabaret, drumsolo's, folcloric tableaux, etc. From simple beauty to glamorous extravaganza. Our specialty are dynamic group performances that showcase both the individual dancers' qualities and our unity as a group. Choreographic magic and amazing formations without loosing the true nature of oriental dance: poetry in motion.

RAKS PRO was founded in 2010 by Artemisia and Khalida. Together with guest choreopgraphers Queenie and Razia the company prepared for their first shows in Brussels, Leuven, Duisburg and Hannover, winning second price as a formation at the prestigious Bellydancer of the World Competition in Duisburg.

Current dancers include company directors Artemisia & Queenie, as well as Chadia, Fédra, Johanna, Luna, Sahra, Anadil, Nasreen, Majidah, Sylenna and Soraya.

At Mundo Oriental 2011 Raks Pro will perform at the Gala Show. We are very excited to see what will happen on stage!

 Magdy El-Leisy Egypt/Germany

Magdy El Leisy is originally from Egypt but currently living and working in Germany. Magdy has a background as a dancer of classical Ballet at the Cairo Opera where he performed in many different ballets travelling to many different countries.

.

In 1994 Magdy gave up his career in Ballet and turned to Egyptian Folklore and oriental dance. Nowadays he travels the world as a very popular dance teacher, artist and choreographer.

.

He has his own dance group in Germany called "El Leisy Group" Magdy El Leisy is teaching Classical Oriental style "Sharqi" as well as Egyptian folklore. As a teacher he is a fun personality with lots of energy.

 Manu Singh India/Germany

Manu Singh from the movie city Mumbai, India, is professional Bollywood choreographer, director of music videos, dancer and dance teacher who performed in uncounted Bollywood movies – in front of the camera or backstage training hundreds and thousands of dancers. He worked for more than 10 years in the Indian film industry, later as well in Egypt and Mexico.

Today Manu lives in Germany and offers – based in Rosenheim, Bavaria – workshops and stage performances throughout Europe. His current Bollywood style is a fusion of Bhangra, Indian folkloristic dance, classic Indian dance and contemporary dance forms such as Modern Jazz and Hip Hop.

Manu is part of Mundo Oriental already for the second time. Again we are looking forward to a highly energetic performance full of pure Bollywood-Power.

Almas Sana Germany (Special Guest)

Almas is dancing since her early childhood. She tried different dance forms before she discovered the Oriental dance for herself. She “found” the Oriental dance, but when she is asked, she insists that – somehow - the magic Oriental dance “found” her!

Over many years she trained with various local bellydancers, but as well with international artists such as Petite Jamilla and Bozenka from the US, Ahmed Fekry and Nour el Hadi.

We will have her on stage at Mundo Oriental 2011 as our special guest!
